The “Status” field in an Opportunity is meant to convey a message to the salesperson or the “Opp Owner.”

When you change the activity “Stage” in an opportunity, the “Status” changes automatically to “Customer/Manufacturer info required.” There is one other choice, “Needs Review.”

IF you have an email linked to the opportunity, AND the customer was the last person to reply to the email string, the “Status” will automatically change to “Needs Review.” This is so that when you are looking at your list of opportunities, you can use the drop-down in the top left corner and select “Needs Review.” You will see all the opportunities that need your attention. You can, of course, switch it to “Needs Review” manually if you need to.

What this boils down to is that you can change the wording of “Customer info Required” or “Manufacturer info Required” and that’s it. You can’t have more than 2 choices for “Status,” and one of them has to be “Needs Review.”

Since “Opportunity Status” is tied directly to each “Opportunity Activity/Stage,” you can assign 1 “Status” to each “Opportunity Activity/Stage.” In the picture at the bottom, you can see a sample list. The other choice for each “Opportunity Activity/Stage” is “Needs Review.” That is not optional.

It’s best to just ignore this field and let it do all the work on its own. Let Repfabric help you be efficient and effective in your follow-up.
