What is 2 Factor Authentication?
If you sign into Office 365 with a password and a code from a text message, you are using 2 factor authentication.
This means you will have to login to Microsoft Office 365 security center (instructions below) and get a special password for Repfabric Sync+. This will allow Repfabric to sync with your email and bypass the 2 factor authentication.
You only need to create an app password if you have two-step verification turned on.
Note: If you forgot your password, are having trouble resetting your password, can’t find your security code, or have other problems signing into your account, see When you can’t sign in to your Microsoft account.
How to create a new app password
A. Create a PIN for your Microsoft Account on Your Computer
In order to login to “Security basics” for your account you will need to prove who you are by entering your password and a second authentication. In the security basics login process a text or a telephone call is NOT an option. The easiest and fastest way to verify who you are is to create a Microsoft login PIN for your computer, and then use that PIN as a way to verify your identity.
- If you use a short numeric code to sign into your computer when you turn it on, you already have a PIN.
- If you use a longer password to login to your computer, you will NEED TO CREATE A PIN.
- Left click Microsoft logo in bottom left corner (Start button), slide cursor up and left click gear icon for “Settings.”
- Left click on “Accounts.”
- Left click “Sign-in Options.”
- Enter your current password to verify your identity.
- Create a PIN (do NOT forget this number)!
B. Create a New App Password
To create a new app password for Repfabric Sync+, take the following steps.
- Go to the Security basics page and sign in to your Microsoft account.
- DO NOT ENTER EMAIL ADDRESS, left click “Sign in with a security key” (that is your PIN).
- Select “more security options.”
- Under “App passwords“, select “Create a new app password.” A new app password is generated and appears on your screen.
C. Enter App Password in Repfabric
