In addition to a Sales Team, you can also create and use “Private Teams.”
They are used to limit visibility to companies.
- Example 1: You have a manufacturer that should only be visible to reps who sell to WI, MI, and IL. Normally a manufacturer is visible to all users because it is not assigned to a sales team. In this case we would create a “Private Team” called “WI/MI/IL” and only assign people to that team who sell to those states.
When an opportunity is created by someone who is not on the WI/MI/IL team, and they are searching for a manufacturer, they will not be able to see any manufacturers who have the WI/MI/IL private team assignment. - Example 2: ‘Team Kim’ is a Sales Team. Kim, Katie and Barb are on ‘Team Kim.’ Katie and Barb are the inside reps on the team. A distributor, Grand Rapids Electric, is assigned to Sales Team ‘Team Kim.’
A “Private Team,” ‘East Coast,’ is created and users Kim and Katie are added to the team. Barb is NOT on the “Private Team” ‘East Coast.’ This “Private Team” is also assigned to Grand Rapids Electric. If Barb goes to look for Grand Rapids Electric, and because she is NOT on the “Private Team” (even though she is on the “Sales Team”), she will not be able to see Grand Rapids Electric.
You must also add any/all owners to all “Private Teams” or they will not be able to see those accounts or any sales & commission numbers associated with the account.
The only thing a Private Team does is DENY ACCESS to those who are not on a Private Team assigned to an account.
“Private Teams” can also be used on all company types (distributors, customers, end users, etc.) to restrict visibility in the same way.
