This tutorial discusses how to establish connections between your Repfabric cloud server and your local Oasis database. Your IT administrator will need to configure permissions for the servers to talk.
Concepts
For most clients, the Oasis software runs on a computer hosted within your company firewall, and is generally on your office premise. In other words, it runs on a computer in your office. On the other hand, Repfabric is cloud based, and requires no hardware on site in your office. In order to get the two systems to communicate, Repfabric servers must be allowed to connect to your Oasis database to extract information so it can be mirrored in Repfabric. If you are using Oasis’s cloud system, please contact Repfabric support as other tasks are needed.
To configure your Repfabric cloud server to communicate with your local Oasis database, your IT Administrator will need to “whitelist” two Repfabric servers.

Configuration Steps
- Contact support@repfabric.com to obtain the Repfabric development server IP address, and your production Repfabric server IP address. Default Development server IP address is 157.245.140.134.
- Once you have the IP addresses of the Repfabric servers, have your IT Administrator whitelist these IP addresses so messages between Repfabric and the Oasis database may be exchanged.
- On your Oasis database server, please make sure a SQL client is installed for browsing your Oasis database and you can properly connect to the Oasis database. If you are using the default Oasis database, it is the Sybase database client available for download from their website.
- Please open Sybase database server port 2638 so remote connectivity can be established using the Sybase database client.
- Please test the connection using the Sybase SQL client to connect to the database from a remote location outside of the company firewall.
- If you have configured DB user ids and passwords beyond Oasis’s defaults, please provide the username and password for the database login to Repfabric support. Please make sure the userid has full read permissions.
- Please provide your IP address and open database port back to Repfabric Support (support@repfabric.com).
Repfabric support will work to establish connectivity to your Oasis Database, usually within 24 hours. Please be sure remote connections from your database through your firewall work correctly to avoid additional delays.
FAQs
- Repfabric will only have “read” permission, so Oasis data integrity will not be disturbed.
- VPNs cannot be supported for production server deployments by default because “headless” servers cannot establish VPN connections. If this is required, additional development costs may be incurred.
- What Oasis data “syncs” with Repfabric? Projects and Quotes today sync with Repfabric from Oasis to Repfabric. Companies and Contacts are also capable of being synced, however a data matching process is needed (to match the RF company names with Oasis company names, and similarly contacts will need to be matched)
