A PPT is attached that  fully illustrates how to use the merge function of company records to eliminate duplicate company records with similar names.

Be mindful that to merge two companies, they have to be the same company type and be assigned the same sales team.

When the merge occurs, all sales and commission history, contacts, product potentials and opportunities will be retained in combination on the final “good” company record. Beware that the activity journals do not move. That will be revised in a future release. For now, just look at the activity journal tab and consider using the one with activity journals as the “good company” you merge into from the other company.
